• Decent work for adults and youth of working age is a necessity if we are to
ensure family incomes that do not rely on child labour.
• For the purpose of the project, livelihood services for adults and children of legal
working age, include but are not limited to the following services:

• Education and training services which aim to provide with the basic skills and
knowledge necessary to benefit from financial services, and vocational and higher
education
• Services which aim to connect a participant with networks or groups for
purposes including promoting sustainable livelihoods and reducing vulnerability to
child labour
• Economic strengthening services which aim to increase the economic well-being
of participants.

• majority of jobs in the world are provided by Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and that in low income countries this
share is almost 80%.
• These entrepreneurs often face a number of challenges which

• APCTT ( Asia & Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology) is a Regional Institute of UNESCAP (United

• The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development
Board (NSTEDB), established by the Government of India under the
aegis of Department of Science & Technology, is an institutional
mechanism to help promote knowledge driven and technology
intensive enterprises.
• The Board, aims to convert "job-seekers" into "job-generators"
through Science & Technology (S&T) interventions.

The i-STED   Program is a focused effort to bring about an inclusive socio-economic development

• National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is a not-for-profit public limited
company
• NSDC was set up by Ministry of Finance as Public Private Partnership (PPP)
model. The Government of India through Ministry of Skill Development &
Entrepreneurship (MSDE) holds 49% of the share capital of NSDC, while the
private sector has the balance 51% of the share capital.
• NSDC aims to promote skill development by catalyzing creation of large, quality
and for-profit vocational institutions.
• Provides funding to build scalable and profitable vocational training initiatives.
• It enables support system which focuses on quality assurance, information
systems either directly or through partnerships.
• It acts as a catalyst in skill development by providing funding to enterprises,
companies and organizations that provide skill training.

Objective
•To contribute significantly to the overall target of skilling up of people in
India, mainly by fostering private sector initiatives in skill development
programmes and to provide funding.

• To reduce poverty by enabling the poor households to access gainful self-
employment and skilled wage employment opportunities, resulting in appreciable
improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis, through building strong
grassroots institutions of the poor.
