Cambridge Listening Paper Part 3
Frida
 The Cambridge Listening Paper has 4 parts.
Luis
 What’s tested in Listening Part 3?
Emily  The questions in part 3 of the Listening Paper test you on your ability
to understand what speakers say in five short recordings that are
connected in some way, and to match each speaker with the correct
choice.
 The set of questions may focus on any of the things listed for part 1 of
Pao
Vargas the Listening paper: detail, opinion/attitude, feeling, function,
purpose, gist, relationship between speakers, place, situation,
genre, agreement, speaker/addressee.
Tips

Pame
 Use the time given to read the questions very carefully before you
listen to the recordings. This will show you what the focus of the set
of questions is and therefore what you need to identify when you
listen to each speaker.
Karen  Don’t choose an option simply because it contains a word or words
that a speaker uses –this option may not be the correct answer.
Tips

Eduardo  Speakers will say things that are connected with more than one of the
options – you must decide which option exactly matches what a
particular speaker says.
Camila
 Don’t choose your answers too quickly when listening for the first
time. You may discover that an answer you have chosen for one
speaker really matches with another speaker and you may then
become confused. Use the second listening to make your final
decisions on your answers.
