1. Tent Camping

• most basic kind of camping

• involves heading off into the

countryside, pitching a tent and
sleeping there for one or more nights
2. Backpacking/ Hiking

• involves spending the day walking,

carrying everything you need on your
back, and then sleeping outside

• from one night to upwards of several

months duration
3. Survivalist Camping

• most extreme form of camping

• Goal: to be completely self-sufficient

for a certain amount of time – and
then to return alive
4. Canoe Camping

• participants travel by canoe, weight is

not so important so it is possible to
carry more equipment

• an excellent way to enjoy nature and

the peaceful solitude of water travel
5. RV and Van Camping

• combines the pleasures of being

outside and close to nature with the
mobility of having a recreational
vehicle (RV)

• suitable for people who like a little

luxury when they camp and is
popular with older people
6. Glamping
• Glamour + camping = glamping

• where stunning nature meets modern

luxury

• a way to experience camping without

having to sacrifice creature comforts
