CONJUNCTION
It is a part of speech that is used to
connect words, phrases, clauses, or
sentences.
1. COORDINATING CONJUNCTION
(Coordinators)
It is used to join, or coordinate, two or more
items (such as words, main clauses, or
sentences) of equal syntactic importance.

1. Additive Conjunction merely adds one
statement to another. (and)
Example:
“He walked into the room and sat on the
sofa.”

2. Adversative Conjunction expresses a contrast
between two statements in a sentence. (but, yet)

Example:
“He is poor but he is honest.”

3. Alternative Conjunction expresses a
choice between two alternatives. (or, nor)
Example:
“You can go to the cinema, or you can
visit your aunt.”

4. Inferential Conjunction introduces some
inference. (for, so)
Example:
“Work hard, for nobody can succeed
without hard work.”
ACTIVITY: SING AND PASS
Instructions: While the music is playing, the
cube shall be passed to another. When the
music stops, one should throw the cube on
the floor to show the word. Use this word in
a sentence. Then, repeat the activity to
continue the game until all words are used.

ASSIGNMENT
Look for the meaning and 10 examples of
Subordinating Conjunctions in a sentence. Write
your answer on the ½ sheet of paper.
