TYPES OF ASSESSMENT

IN LANGUAGE ARTS
AURAL-ORAL ASSESSMENT
CONTEXT
• Target student: advance student
STORYTELLING
SET INDUCTION (5 minutes)

1. Teacher:
i. enters the classroom with only one shoe.
ii. asks where is his/her other shoe.
iii. introduces the topic of the day.
PRESENTATION (15 minutes)

1. Reading aloud
i. Pupils listens to the story read by the teacher.
ii. Pupils repeat after the teacher.
iii. Pupils have to read the story in groups.
iv. Any pronunciation, stress and intonation errors are corrected by the
teacher.
PRACTICE (15 minutes)

1. Broken radio game


i. Pupils are assigned into a few groups.
ii. A representative from each group to take a paper strip that consists of a
short paragraph of the story.
iii. The rules of the game are explained by the teacher.
iv. The last pupil from each group has to retell the paragraph of the story to
the classroom.
v. Feedback is given by the teacher.
PRODUCTION (20 minutes)

1. A box of props related to the story is provided by the teacher.


2. The first group comes to take only 5 props for the storytelling
activity.
3. One pupil from the group will tell the story while the other group
members will use the props accordingly.
4. Steps 2 & 3 are repeated with the other groups.
CLOSURE (5 minutes)

1. Pupils tell the moral value of the story to the classroom.


JUSTIFICATION

The lesson will be duplicated and applied with another story in the next
lesson.
Dramatization Activity
• The pupils are assigned into 5 groups.
• Each representative from each group take one envelope from the
teacher at the front.
• The pupils need to open the envelope and read the task given.
• The pupils are allocated 10 minutes to discuss the task with the
teacher’s guidance.
• The pupils perform the drama group by group at the front.
• Feedbacks are given by the teacher at the end of the drama.
Choral Speaking Activity
• The pupils are assigned into 2 groups.
• Sentence strips of scripts of the choral speaking is given to both
groups.
• The pupils are allocated 10 minutes to practice the choral speaking
with the teacher’s guidance.
• The pupils perform the choral speaking group by group at the front.
• Feedbacks are given by the teacher by the end of the drama.
