Performance Parameters of Dc-Dc Converters

• Method of Analysis:
• Define switching states/intervals and specify time of each interval
• Draw equivalent circuit of converter in each interval/state.
• Use KVL to find voltages across all inductors
• Use KCL to find currents through all capacitors
• Calculate average inductor voltage and use IVSB principle
• Calculate average capacitor current and use CASB principle

• Find equation for average voltage across each capacitor


• Find equation for average current through each inductor
• Find peak to peak ripple in all inductor currents (∆ iL)
• Find peak to peak ripple in all capacitor voltages (∆ v)
• Find maximum and minimum values of inductor currents
[I(max), I(min)]
• Find maximum and minimum values of capacitor voltages
[v(max), v(min)]
• Find critical inductance Lc
• Find critical capacitance Cc
