Clipper Circuit
Clamper Circuit
Report Questions:

1. What is Clipper Circuit?

ANS: A clipper is a device which limits, remove or prevents some portion of the wave form
above or below a certain level in other words the circuit which limits positive or negative
amplitude or both is called chipping circuit. The clipper circuits are of the following types. Series
positive clipper.

2. What is Clamper Circuit?

ANS: An electronic circuit that is used to alter the positive peak or negative peak of the input
signal to a definite value by shifting the entire signal up or down to obtain the output signal
peaks at desired level is called as Clamper circuit.

3. Difference between Clipper Circuit and Clamper Circuit.

Parameter Clipper Circuit Clamper Circuit
Definition Clipper delimit the amplitude Clamper shifts the DC level
of the output voltage. of the output voltage.
Output Voltage Less than the input voltage. Multiples of input voltage.
Energy storage Not required Requires (Capacitor is used
component as energy storage element)
Shape of Output Shape changes (Rectangular, Shape remains same as input
Waveform sinusoidal, triangular etc.) waveform.
DC Level Remains same DC level get shifted
Applications In transmitters, receivers, In voltage multiplying
amplitude selector, noise circuits, Sonar, Radar system
limiter etc. etc.
Discussion: (Clipper Circuit)

1. At first. I went to the "Tinkercad" website.

2. Then I took a mini-breadboard along with a 10 K-Ohm Resistor and a diode.
3. After that I serially connected the resistor and the diode.
4. Then I took a function generator and a 3V DC power supply.
5. I connected the positive end of the Function Generator to the negative end of the
Resistor and the negative end to the negative panel of the breadboard.
6. Then I connected the DC power supply serially after the diode. Here, diode was placed
in forward bias.
7. After that I connected the negative end in the negative panel of the breadboard.
8. Then I placed a oscilloscope to measure the wave coming from the AC power supply
and another oscilloscope to measure the wave of current passing through the diode and
DC power supply.
9. By this procedure, I completed my experiment circuit.

2. Then I took a mini-breadboard along with a 1 K-Ohm Resistor and a diode.
3. After that I parallelly connected the resistor and the diode and put a capacitor before the
diode.
4. Then I took a function generator.
5. I connected the positive end of the Function Generator to the negative end of the
Resistor and the negative end to the negative panel of the breadboard.
