OBJECTIVES:-

On completion of this period, you would be able to

understand about.

•Sequence of Weld and timings

EE502.30 to 31 1
SEQUENCE WELD CIRCUIT

•In Automatic welding process, weld sequence is

followed

•Sequence weld timer circuit is used

EE502.30 to 31 2
SEQUENCE WELD CIRCUIT

EE502.30 to 31 3
SEQUENCE WELD CIRCUIT
1) Squeeze Time:- In this electrodes are pressed
against work pieces

2) Weld Time:- The current is made to flow through

work pieces are heat is generated and metal melts

EE502.30 to 31 4
SEQUENCE WELD CIRCUIT
3) Hold Time:- Weld current is cut off, pressure is
continued and weld solidifies

4) Off Time:- Pressure is removed, welded work piece

is removed, new piece is kept

SEQUENCE WELD CIRCUIT PROCESS

•When S is closed
•Solenoid valve turns on
•Electrodes move and apply force on work piece

EE502.30 to 31 7
SEQUENCE WELD CIRCUIT PROCESS

•Sequence timer starts (Sequence time)

•After T1 time
•SCR’s are fired

•T2 timer starts (Weld time)

•After T2 time
•SCR’s are turned off
EE502.30 to 31 9
SEQUENCE WELD CIRCUIT PROCESS
CONTD..

•T3 timer starts ( Hold Time)

•Pressure is still maintained
•After T3 time
•Solenoid valve is switched off
EE502.30 to 31 10
SEQUENCE WELD CIRCUIT PROCESS
CONTD..

•Pressure is released
•Off timer T4 is activated
•After off period New sequence starts

COMPARISON BETWEEN
RESISTANCE AND ARC WELDING
Resistance Welding Arc Welding

How heat is produced ?

Due to flow of current Due to Arc formed
through the contact between the electrode
resistance and work piece

What type of supply is used ?

Normally A.C supply A.C or D.C

Is pressure applied ( yes / no ) ?

YES NO
