The Women’s Center Mission and Objective…..
Mission: “The Women’s Center at Georgia College strives to create a dynamic
campus community that challenges gender-based oppression through education,
support, and community-building”

Their objectives:
■ To Create programs that promote healthy sexuality and relationships;
■ To Provide opportunities for leadership development and personal empowerment;
■ To Promote collaboration across campus and community for social change;
■ To enact and create power-based interpersonal violence prevention efforts at GC;
■ Help Support members of our campus community in times of crisis.
Services offered
Lactation Spaces
● the Women's Center oversees several lactation space locations on campus where
mothers who breastfeed can come to either breastfeed or express milk. They also
provide a map of where each station is located
Resource Library
● The Women's Center has a resource library that contains a wide array of books
relating to various women's issues
Community Groups
● Each semester the Women's Center offers a range of community building groups.
Trainings and Presentations
● The Women’s Center offers a number of presentations, workshops,
and trainings on a variety of topics.

Goal: To provide first year students with necessary information that
they could use throughout their college experiences.

● To have former student share advice;
● To give this information to first year students during the Women’s center fist
newsletter of the semester

● Create a survey for former student and staff to fill out
● Collecting and interpreting responses
● Creating a news article
I Wish I Would Have Known
Purpose: The transition from highschool to college is difficult for many students.
They are experiencing so many thing for the first time, and it can be confusing.
This project was created in order to help that transition process.

Goal: To locate and distributed media content that showcased people of color
Learning Objective
● learning how to become an advocate for women and men of all ethnic
minorities/ background
Activities:
● Create a list of books that show different background and ethnicity and
distribute that list so people can find characters they relate to and have
shared experience
Skills and Competencies:

People of Color in literature
Purpose: While there are plenty of books that feature people of color and talks
about their experience, they are not promoted. For the most part mainstream
media promote white narratives and this includes the books they choose to
promote. This projects goal was to create a curated list of books about POC that
the women’s center could share with GCSU student and faculty.

The book list will be sent out in the women’s
center 1st newsletter of the semester and again
a couple of weeks after that

Sexual Assault Initiative Milledgeville Survival Guild
Learning Objective: Goal
● Learning different way in preventing ● Providing students with information
the sexual assault and supporting about GCSU and the Milledgeville
victims community. Also providing resources
Activities: about where they could find places
● This would be a group discussion, that suit their need
where student would come together For example
to discuss different issues involving ● LGBTQ+ friendly Doctor offices
sex. This discussion would be based ● Place POC can get there hair done
of of different media sources like ● Where you can get birth control and
documentaries, articles, and STI testing
podcast.
I have put together a list of potential
media sources that could be used. The
program could happen virtual or in person
