Tried to persuade Rizal to discard his errors on Religion and even instructed two Jesuits Father Obach and Father Jose Vilaclara.

But despite their effort to bring Rizal

 back to within the Catholic Hold.
 Then assigned Father Sanchez Rizal
 Favorite Teacher.

 Father FRANCISCO DE PAULA SANCHEZ. The Spanish

Jesuit priest was Rizal's favorite professor in Ateneo (in
Literature). It was under Fr. Sanchez that Rizal learned the
Greek and Latin Classics. It was also the priest who pushed
the young Rizal to cultivate his literary skills by encouraging
him to write essays and poetry.
 The only Spanish Priest who ever defend Rizal’s Noli Me
Tangere in the eyes and ears of the public.
Arrival of Father Sanchez in Dapitan

 Upon arriving at Dapitan Father Sanchez spend no time and immediately go where Rizal
is his favorite student.
 Almost daily Rizal and Father Sanchez would have and theological argument but in a
friendly manners.
 Father Sanchez despite being Rizal favorite Teacher also failed to convince Rizal to
discard his errors on Religion.
 Despite failing to persuade Rizal Father Sanchez enjoyed being able to be close with
Rizal. He even helped Rizal in beautifying the town plaza.
Rizal Gift to Father Sanchez

 On his Birthday, Rizal gave a precious birthday gift.

 It was a manuscript entitled Estudios sobre la lengua talaga(Studies on tagalog language).
 A tagalog grammar which Rizal wrote that was dedicated to his favorite and beloved
former teacher Father Sanchez.
