Relative Pronouns - Usage people people people/ things possession (subject) (object) things
Used to connect two clauses and make reference to
previous terms. Confusing?
Let's break things up WHO Refers to people (subject).
1st sentence: Mark Smith is 76 years old.
2nd sentence: Mark Smith has just retired.
Mark Smith, who is 76, has just retired.

- We don’t know the person who donated this money.
- The girl who studies with me has asked me out. - Barack Obama, who was once president of the USA, discoursed yesterday. WHICH Refers to things
1st sentence: This is a house.
2nd sentence: Jack built this house.
This is the house which Jack built.

- We had fish and chips, which I always enjoy.
- I met Rebecca in town yesterday, which was a nice surprise. - This is the game which I’m playing now. THAT Refers to people and things (can substitute who and which in some cases)
