 Group A officers: Railway

• Group – A means those directly

recruited by UPSC.
• There are also some Group – B
officers. They are promoted from
Group – C to Group - B.
• Group – A actually runs the whole
railway system.

• They are posted in top most posts of
railways like Chairman, Member, GM,
DRM etc.
• They are trained at the best
institutes of Railways, IIM, Foreign etc.

• They are given the power to frame

rules and regulations.
