INTRODUCTION
 Belongs to the family of viruses known as coronaviruses
 Generally infect bats, pigs, small mammals and may transfer to human
 The origin of the outbreak is reportedly due to the infected seafood and live animal market in
China
 Though the cases of outbreak was reported in December, officially it was confirmed on
January 07, 2020.
 Sparked a global panic and on January 30th, was deemed to be pandemic
 Current mortality rate has been 3.4%
 Most cases of COVID 19 have been mild
HISTORY OF EVOLUTION
 Various form of corona virus had been identified
 First known in 1960
 Previous major virus were SARS and MERS
ORIGIN OF CORONA VIRUS
 Originated in bats, which are host of many illnesses
 Transferred to other animals
 First appeared in December 12 in Wuhan
HOW IT TRANSMITS
 It spreads from person to person via respiratory droplets that are emitted from infected person
into the air, which is inhaled by other people.
 There is also possible transmission through surfaces

 Suppose I recently somehow got infected before coming to the presentation
 During the presentation I might take few coughs or sneezes or even throw the droplets during
speaking.
 As I finish the presentation and move back, the next presenter might come and inhale the air
with the infected droplets.
 Now, there is a possibility that he is also affected.
 Further, I go back to my own seat and he goes to his own, now we slowly transmit this
diseases within few hours to all, if there are not proper safety measures being adapted

 Government restricted gathering of more than 25 people in any place, event or office.

 Delayed action for border closing
 Delay in procurement and acquisition of PPE and identification kit
 Lack of preparedness (despite so much time)
 Lack of proper facility (relying on government hospitals and response from security forces)
 Lack of awareness among the people
 Government has formed defensive action, which might slow down the spread of the disease
but offensive action to identify the infected isolation could protect the Nepalese people.

 The threat of the corona virus could be seen in Nepal as well
RECOMMENDATION
 The reservoir host of Corona Virus is not known. Evidence is accumulating that various bat
species may serve as a source of infection for both humans and wild primates.
 Person-to-Person transmission of Corona Virus requires direct contact with blood or other
virus containing body fluids; from a person who has developed signs and symptoms of Corona
Virus disease.
 Proper cleaning process if conducted from time to time could control the disease from
transmitting
 In the situation of such, government should declare the national emergency and provide
necessary food for the people who are unable to afford due to such situation by properly
identifying them.
