A fossil fuel is a natural fuel such as coal or gas, formed in the geological
past from the remains of living organisms.
Pros and cons
Pros Cons
• Widely available around the • Finite resource
globe • Large greenhouse gas emitter
• low cost per unit energy including CO2
• High energy output • Environmentally damaging, with
• Employs millions of people potential catastrophic damage
globally from large oil spills
• The primary source of all plastics • Produces smog which harms
human health
My opinion
It’s difficult to take a decision about the use of fossil fuels, because at
the moment they are the biggest source of energy and they’re also
available in large quantities.
Unfortunately, on the other hand, their use is polluting and heavily
damaging the Earth.
For these reasons, at the moment, it’s difficult to find a solution, but it’s
necessary to develop a research for a new renewable energy source for
the future.
