• Mercantile bank is one of the leading


banks in Bangladesh. It was
established on 20th may 1999 and
commenced commercial banking
operation on 2nd June 1999. It is a
public limited company. The
chairman of Mercantile bank is Md.
Abdul Jalil.

• They have many branches in the


country and currently they have
around 1900 employees and also have
around 1000 employees by
outsourcing.

The works of HR has always done by the HR
department in Mercantile Bank because they
always had the HR department.

Currently they have 7 members in the HR


department and they all do
the works for the employees and the organization.

They provide almost everything to the organization


that a HR department should provide.

Mercantile Bank started with the HR department.


because the knew the importance of that department.

To reach the organizations goal one need skilled


employees and without the HR department you
cannot get it so for that Mercantile Bank didn’t
started their organization without a HR department
like most of the organizations in our country.
Present scenario

The present scenario of the HR department is good in


Mercantile Bank compare to other organizations.

They are trying to provide a lot to the employees and


to the organization. Because of the compaction skilled
employees is highly needed and they are providing
their employees the best training and development
they can.

But they are shortage of manpower at present stage.


Future Plan

They said an extant to the HR department is


must for the organization. Because in this
compaction an organization needs more
skilled, motivated manpower. And without the
help of HR department one cannot have skilled
manpower.

 They don’t have multi source feedback


HR in Bangladesh perspective

The past scenario of HR department was not that good


in our country. people didn’t knew the importance of
HR department. It is growing day by day but still it is
very new to us. Now every company is creating a HR
department. because in the future one cannot think of
an organization with out a HR department.

Within the next five years hopefully HR department


will be available in our country in most of the
organizations.
