PROBLEM STATEMENT
• What are the factors that have prevented the large-scale adoption of household solar
rooftops in India? Even though the Government have launched subsidy schemes on PV
systems, many people are still reluctant to spend on this energy solution. This research
aims to explore the reasoning behind such behavior and what is the future of solar rooftops
in India.

Cost of installation It is one of major factors which must be considered while installation of any new equipment. Ratio
Income level There is a direct relationship between an item been used by the person and his purchasing power, Interval
which is decided by his income level.
Awareness The awareness about a new product is one of considerable factors which decides the response it Interval
receives in the market.
Since majority of population of India is middle class or below , subsidiary becomes important factor

for installation of solar panels.
The availability of product directly affects the quantity of its consumption. Same is also true in the

case of solar panels.
Ease of installation Necessary formalities and time consumed in getting the panel installed. Interval
Support Any new product will be successful if post purchase service options are easily available. Interval
Maintenance cost The cost of operating the equipment over its life cycle will directly impact its popularity Ratio
Electricity supply stability Stability of the supply of electricity and frequency of electricity cuts. Ordinal
Electricity rates The rate of electricity, if high , will align the consumer to look for other options and vice-versa Ratio
The time taken for the consumer to compensate the investment with the expected benefits will
ROI decide its adaptation Ratio
Requirement The amount of electrical units needed and its achievability using solar rooftops Ratio
Demand The final dependent variable under the focus of our research Ratio
