Non-Banking Financial Institution A non-banking financial institution

(NBFI) or non-bank financial company (NBFC) is a financial institution
that does not have a full banking license or is not supervised by a
national or international banking regulatory agency. NBFI facilitate bank
related financial services, such as investment, risk pooling, contractual
savings, and market brokering.

Banks exist primarily to provide a secure place to store wealth held in the
form of readily available money. But like all enterprises staffed by
humans, banks also exist in order to make money. Banks make money
by making loans from a portion of the deposits and charging interest on
those loans.
