INTRODUCTION

• Swiggy is a food ordering and Delivery Company based out of Bangalore, India.
• Founded in 2014
• Tagline: When you are hungry, think of us!
• Founders: Rahul Jaimini, Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy
• Journey: It began with 6 delivery executives and 25 restaurants on its platform. In the time of
3 years, it has scaled up with over 6,000 delivery executives across India in more than 8 cities
like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and Pune.
TIMELINE OF SWIGGY
• 2013: Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy founded Bundl Technologies, a logistics and shipping startup for small sellers
retailing on e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon India. The venture failed to take off
• 2014: Sriharsha Majety, Nandan Reddy and Rahul Jaimini, these are the names that created Swiggy. They all came together and
put their skills together and created SWIGGY.
• 2015: Within a year, Swiggy convinced so many restaurants to join forces with the online food delivery portal or platform. The
service was especially focused on customer experience and that’s the reason why they didn’t get criticized when they started
charging for deliveries. Swiggy received its first cheque of $2 million dollars as funding from Accel and SAIF.
• 2016: The funding period for Swiggy soon died.Swiggy had gone through some massive losses which ended in the month of
March.
Swiggy caught the eyes of some global investors who later on became associated with the start-up.
• 2017: With 6 times the growth of its launch, Swiggy was leading the Indian food tech industry. Well, the main credit went to their
customer understanding and adaptability. By 2017, the company started introducing disruptive and some exceptional services.
Later on, they started to understand the needs, and with that keeping in mind, the company increased its investments
• Moreover, this year witnessed the company’s biggest investment of $80 million of funding which was being led by Naspers.
• 2018: Basically 2018 was like a roller coaster ride for both Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy, since they were passing one
milestone after another. The motive was clear that wanted to change the way that India eats, as they were focused on building
real-time predictions and optimizing the systems to customer support and to introduce personalization with speed of deliveries.
• 2019: Swiggy kept on achieving milestones during this year.
SALIENT FEATURES

• It has its own fleet of delivery boys who are equipped with smartphones and the Swiggy app.
• It does not have a minimum order policy.
• More Reliable.
• Faster.
• They’re focusing on their delivery ecosystem to explore new categories like groceries,
medicines etc.
BUSINESS MODEL
FUNDING
• Swiggy is one of the online food delivery start-up that is attracting the investors
• The first was a $2 million investment from Accel and SAIF Partners, along with an additional investment
from Norwest Venture Partners.
• The next year, Swiggy raised $15 million from new and existing investors, including Bessemer Venture
Partners and Harmony Partners.
