OUTLINING AND
ORGANIZING
THE SPEECH CONTENT
Outlining and Organizing
Speech Content
This makes sense of all the
information gathered, for it may
become overwhelming, wanting to
include everything in detail is not
possible for there is a time limit.
2 Steps of Speech
Organizing and
Outlining
STEP 1: Sorting the Info, may be
in categories or classified
according to the points they
make.

In categories, it may involve:

statistics, testimonies, opinions,
historical facts, etc.
Step 2: Organize the
Speech itself. The best
method is an outline.
Organizing – to arrange or
order things

Outlining – to list only the

most important parts
5 TYPES OF
OUTLINES
1. Chronological Outline
- a historical/time
approach, like from the past
to present

i.e. Development of Ilocos

Region from Martial Law to
the Present
2. Spatial/Geographical
Outline - going from one
place to another, one
direction to another

i.e. The Heritage Churches

of Pampanga
3. Cause and Effect Outline

- involves a discussion of
both cause and effects of an
issue

i.e. The Fish Kill in Laguna

de Bay
4. Problem-Solution Outline

- explain a problem and

suggest a possible solution

i.e. Cleaning Up Manila Bay

5. Topical Outline - divides
the topic into subtopics based
on importance or interest
value or simply because the
topic requires it.
