- To seek or search
- Examination, Investigation &
Experimentation

- Gain solutions to a problem

- A systematic inquiry
- A scientific process that validates
and refines existing knowledge.
PURPOSES OF RESEARCH

It shall be the duty of the nurse to:
Undertake nursing and health
human resource development

include, but not limited to the
development of advance nursing
Nurse’s Role in Research

- ensuring clinical
research studies run
smoothly and that
participants are safe
and fully informed.
Nurse’s Role in Research
1. Clinical research is vital for finding new treatments and
improving patient care. Research nurses are at the forefront
of this process.

2. Research nurses need a thorough understanding of the

research process and terminology, and in-depth knowledge
of the specialty under investigation. The nurses play a key
role as patient advocate, ensuring patients’ safety and
protection, and that patients are well supported throughout
the research study.
