Why in Colombia the

dance is not supported

by the society as in
other countries
Sara Valentina Isabel Torres Diaz
Trougth the
years the
importance of
dance as a
proffession has
increased due to
value,relevance
and personal
development.
Not all the people feel
carrers involve
science,maths,politics,or
anything related to
“normal” proffessions are
focused on their likes and
skills
The purpouse of a
profesional dancers is
explote their talent and
show their creative, skills
and knowlegde in a stage
were value their training
and preparation
However not all countries give
this job the same profits and
support as other proffessions
but speccially in Latin
America
The society are not culturally educated to appreciated and pay
adequately for differents performances that includes arts especially
dance this is a consequence of the few emphasis by the
goverment, schools and industries in the importance of arts to create new
perspectives
The
society are
not
culturally Througth the years the
educated asistance of public to big
colombian dance
companies shows (Ballet de
sonia Osorio,ballet de
colombia,ballet tierra
colombiana) are decreasing
The public think this A theather before was
Due to “high” shows not wort it full for approximately
prices of tickets spend a lot money thousand people and
today only five
hundred want to go of
this kind of shows
The society
are not
culturally
educated
Nobody knows how
much work is behind
this shows and they dont
appreciate the jobs and
time of the dancers
Salaries
"Here it is difficult to survive as an artist,
we know it, we just want to collaborate
with people who want to live that dream.

"Carlos Molina, first dancer of the Boston Ballet

Dancers can live and win money

like another proffesions…. but in
other countries
Industries
The lack of
opportunities in
the industries
related of dance
Machismo and
discrimination
“That idea of the masculine in ballet is
regenerated, because one revaluates all the
time ‘what it is to be a man’, beyond whether I
like a girl, a boy or a tree”

Hollman Serratto principal dancer Bogota

Capital dance
Conclusions
Nowadays the people are
The society are not Salaries are less than other
not disposed to pay for a
culturally educated proffesional dance
countries,in these support more
performance due to the the colombian talent than
ignorance of the work ourself
behind there
The same industrie its Until today the machismo
the guilty of the lack continue being one of the
of worthy recognize most bigger problems
To me
To reduce this kind of
problems in Colombia the
goverment have to créate a
politic whick increase the
importance of this carrer
like wise the schools and
universities should have
the posibility to beef up
this kind of culture aspects
