SS7 Outage Alarm Handling

Alarm Description/Presentation
• When a ss7 Toll Isolation incident occurs, Netcool will present Tier 1
with a DPC Critical Alarm. The alarm will be laid out as follows:
SS7 OUTAGE: DPC XXX-XXX-XXX is prohibited LSN=YYYYYYYYY {ZZZZZZZ}
• DPC XXX-XXX-XXX represents the Destination Point Code for the end
office with a toll isolation
• LSN= YYYYYYYYY represents the Linkset Name assigned to this
Destination Point Code
• {ZZZZZZZ} represents the LOC and PORT number assigned to the link
in the STP
Tekelec Alarm Verification
• Open a GHEM session and connect to the STP using the CLLI
• Once a connection is made to the Tekelec STP, access a command
prompt. Press CTRL + A and Return on the keyboard.
• At the prompt, enter REPT-STAT-RTE:DPC=000-000-000 {RETURN}
This DPC number is included in the Netcool alarm
Locating the Circuit ID
• Access the M6 Information Utility.
• Select Equipment located in the search by the drop-down menu
under Search Options.

• Click the Goto Equipment Report button

• Enter the alarm HOST CLLI (STP CLLI) in the Network Location field
and click the Get CLLI List button.

• Select All Racks from the Net Loc drop-down menu and click the Get
Equipment List button.

• Select the Link set Name (LSN) the circuit resides on from the drop-
down list.

• Expand the LKST-NAME by double-clicking the Plus sign (+) and then
double-clicking the DS0 entry to reveal the circuit ID.

• Select the Circuit ID and do a Copy (CTRL + C) to copy.

• Open the Remedy Ticketing System
• Select the Create a New OP Ticket button to create a new ticket for
the CCSC.

• Select the Circuit Ticket and click Open Circuit Search to reveal the
Circuit ID to Search field.

• Select the Circuit ID to Search field, Paste (CTRL + V) it in the Circuit
ID and click Execute Search.
Double-click on the search results.
• This will attach the CLR/DLR to the ticket and fill in many necessary
fields automatically

• In the Products Affected field, select TDM Voice | TDM Voice from
the drop-down menu.

• In the Networks Affected field, select SS7/AIN from the drop-down
menu.

• From the NOC Trouble Type field, select OUTAGE from the drop-down
menu.

• From the Origin field, select Netcool form the drop-down menu.

• The Tier 1 Specialist will need to include any relevant information
needed to resolve the network event and click Submit.
