1. LOCATION
Location
• Thasos or Thassos is a Greek island, geographically part of the North Aegean
Sea, but administratively part of the Kavala regional unit, Maceodnia.
• Thasos is also the name of the largest town of the island, situatied at the
northern side, opposite the mainland and about 10 kilometres from
Kermoti.

Population
With a population of aprox. 14000, its indigenous habitants are occupied with
tourism, agriculture, fishery, cattle-breeding and marble extraction from
quarries as well.
