ABSTRACT

In the industry, especially in marine, aviation, and
refrigerator industries, the joints of aluminium alloys
and chomium-nickel austenitic steel are applicable .

But the alloying addition, which are present in
aluminium alloys (especially magnesium),usually
aggravate the metallurgium conditionb o aluminium
bonding

They caused acceleration of the formation of the
intermetallic phase at the joints boundary, because of
the diffusion coefficient.

PROBLEM DEFINITION

Apart from the cost of equipment ,which must be
suitable for the intended joints, the friction welding
process has some costs in tooling and

set up that must be taken into account when
calculating the costs per weld.

Friction welding are that not every
configuration is feasible, that a machine of
sufficient power is needed and that for short
runs the process may not be economical.

Dissimilar Friction Welding of Aluminum Semi Solid
Casting 7075 and AISI 1018 Steel

Joining of 1060/6063 aluminum alloys based on
porthole die extrusion process
PROPOSED METHOD

This work is aimed to improve the bonding strength
of two dissimilar material like 7075 aluminium alloy
and 316 austenitic stainless steel in two different
conditions

Initially the aluminium alloy was friction welded with
steel part by varying the work revolution in two
diferent modes

Secondly the other set of welded samples were post
heat treated
