The Eye
The eyes are sense organs for seeing.
External Parts
Internal Parts
The cornea is a
bulging,
transparent
covering of the
sclera.
Sclera
The sclera is the
tough, outer
covering that
forms the “white”
of your eyes.
Iris
The colored
circle in your
eyes is the iris.
it may be black,
brown , gray,
green or blue..
Pupil
In the center of the
iris is dark spot
called pupil.
Lens
The lens is
the clear part
of your eyes.
Is made up of
living cells.
Optic Nerve
The optic
nerve is the
part of your
eye behind the
retina.
Common
Ailments,Defects,
and Conditions of
the Eyes
Myopia- It is also called near-sightedness.I
Hyperopia- It is called far-sightedness
Color-blindness- A
person who is color-
blind has difficulty in
recognizing one or
more colors.
Sty- This is a painful infection of the hair follicles of the eyelashes.
Conjunctivities- This is commonly called sore eyes.
Blepharatis- It is redness or inflammation of
the eyelids
Cataract- This a disease of the eye wherein the lens is
cloudy, making a person partly or entirely blind

has difficulty seeing when the light is dim.
Astigmatism- this is a defect of the eye that
makes objects look unclear.
Dacryocystitis- It is an infection and destruction of the
tear duct, which produces a discharge with pus at the
inner corner of the eye
Glaucoma- it is a sight -threatening disease in which the
pressure of the eye's fluid increases
Glaucoma- it is a sight -threatening disease in
which the pressure of the eye's fluid increases.

The Ears
The ear is the
sense organ for
hearing.
Parts of the Ear
Parts of the outer Ear
Parts of the Middle Ear
Parts of the Inner Ear
Common Ailments of the Ears
Middle Ear Infections
--These are the most common
ear ailments. Intense, stabbing
pains accompany acute middle
ear infections.
The infections may become
chronic if not treated
immediately.
Running Ear

You develop a running ear

when you have chronic
infections. A running ear is
usually not painful,but may
be accompanied by a ringing
sensation in the ear.
Draining Ear
- A draining ear is a warning
to promptly consult a
doctor..Ears must be kept dry
and clean to prevent the
occurrence of complications.
Boils
These are caused by
severe scratching of
the ear canal by
objects used to
remove earwax. An
infection often
occurs throuh a
break on the skin or
when sharp objects
are used to relieved
itching.
Deafness
It is either by water,
foreign bodies,
earwax. it is an acute
inflammation of the
auditory nerve.
Tinnitus
It is also called ringing in
the ear..It is caused by
nervousness, high blood
pressure , use of certain
ddrugs, and diseases of
the auditory nerve.
Impacted Earwax
Itis hardened
wax that causes
partial deafness.
Otosclerosis
It cause unknown. It
affects the small bones of
the ears.
An otolaryngologist
( EENT Specialist) is
being consulted in this
kind of ailment.
Lesson 3

The Nose
Sense organ for smelling
Parts of the Nose
The nostrils are the two
small openings in the
nose.it is where the air
enters before it passes
through the nasal
cavity.
Nasal Cavity
the nasal cavity is
a large, air-filled
space aboe and
behind the nose in
the middle of the
face.
Cilia
Cilia serve as
filters that
block dust
particles and
tiny insects
trying to enter
your nose.
Mucous membrane
At the surface of the
nasal cavity are the
mucous membranes,
which moisten the
air and make it
warm.
Olfactory Nerve
The olfactory nerve
detects the air and
sends the sensation
to the brain,. Then,
the brain interprets
the smell.
Common Ailments and Diseases of the nose
Common Cold. It is
the most diseases of
the nose wherein one
runny nose,
coughing,sore throat,
sneezing,
headaches,and fever.
Nosebleed
This is a common
ailment of the nose,
which is caused by too
much heat.Blowing the
nose hard may also
cause nosebleed.
Sinusitis
It is a desease caused by
infection of our sinuses.

trouble”. Swollen and
painful
sinuses,dizziness, and
runny nose are the
sympoms of sinusitis.
Rhinitis
This result from
infections, allergic
reaction, common
colds, and viral
infections. .
Lesson 4
The Tongue
The tongue is the sense organ for tasting.
Parts of the Tongue
The tongue has a small
bumps called papillae,
which consist of taste
buds. Papillae is small,
reddish pink taste
buds, which are found
on the surface of the
tongue.

out of the skin that protect it from dust and
germs. At the root of the hairs are the pores
that are tiny holes or openings in the skin.
Sweat or perspiration comes out from the pores of
the skin.
Nerve endings are of different types of skin. Some of
these are used when touch something. Other nerve
endings help to tell pain, pressure, and changes in
temperature.
Oil ducts prevent tissues, blood vessels, and holes.
When something touches the skin, the nerve cells
quickly carry the message to the brain.n tells what
you feel..
