Question

Why does the yeast and hydrogen Will the pasta fly like a rocket and
peroxide make the pasta fly? does this work?
• Based on what I know, which is only that yeast
Hypothesis and hydrogen peroxide make some sort of gas, I
do not think the pasta will fly. I think will only
do a little jump.
Materials
• Pasta (uncooked)
• A jar (with a small hole)
• Tape
• Matches
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Yeast (active yeast)
• Something to stir the yeast and hydrogen
peroxide
Procedure
• Step 1 : Fill the jar, halfway or 3 quarters of hydrogen peroxide.

• Step 2: Pour a TSP of yeast inside the jar with hydrogen peroxide.

• Step 3 : Cover the top with tape (if you don’t have a jar with a hole already) make sure the tape
has a whole the size of the penne pasta.

• Step 4: light the top of the pasta with the matches ( lighter does not work as well as matches)

• Step 5: Watch as the pasta burns on its own.( make sure you stop the burn before it reaches the
tape, as the tape will burn)
Results
• The reason why the pasta burned
was because when you mix yeast
and hydrogen peroxide, the
hydrogen peroxide will break
down into water,oxygen gas and
then will bubble up.
• When the pasta was lit on fire the
oxygen gas was going into the
pasta and burning, in way that
looks like the end of a rocket.
Conclusion

WHEN DOING THIS PROJECT I DID NOT KNOW TURNS OUT IT DOESN’T FLY SO MY HYPOTHESIS BUT IT DID NOT JUMP EITHER, IT MAINLY JUST
ANYTHING ABOUT IT, I HONESTLY JUST FOUND IT WAS HALF RIGHT, BUT IT DOES NOT JUMP BURNED FOR ABOUT 30 SECS.
ON THE INTERNET AND WHEN I SEEN PASTA EITHER. THE PASTA JUST BURNS ON ITS OWN,
ROCKET. IT WAS MY FIRST CHOICE. WHICH IS COOL.
