Presenting Statistical Results for

Decision Making

Welcome
Introduction
 Health system leadership is an important aspect in any
organization.
 The leaders make decision regarding various policies and
practices within a health setup
 The decisions are mainly impacted by statistical data analytics
(Li, 2015).
 This presentation will elaborate on the statistical data analytics
regarding HAC prevalence in the health sector.
 The data collection methods, analysis, interpretations, and
recommendations to the challenge will be discussed.

2
Data Collection
 Data will be collected from a sample of 50 nurses working in
various wards.
 The questionnaire method will be used
 The data collection technique was selected because it helps to
collect reliable quantitative data.
 The method was also not prone to bias and was easy to use.

3
Measurement
 Measurement of data is important after collection (Davenport,
2015).
 ordinal scale will be used for data measurement.
 The strategy was used since it is simple and accurate in
quantitative data analysis unlike other methods .
 It is also reliable

4
Tools and Techniques
 The used data analysis tool is the SPSS tool.
 The tool is easy to use
 It is also available freely online and runs on all computers.
 The Chi-Square test was used to calculate data correlations and
significance.
 The strategy was selected since it was easy to use and would give a
good visual impression (Sue & Griffin, 2016).

5
Interpretation of Statistical Results Used in the Data Analysis

 The SPSS found the P-value was 0.98.

 Below is the graphical representation. Errors that cause HAC

 80%=Percentage of errors leading to

HAC

 20%= Other factors

 Patient infection mortality

 HAC infection mortality

Other causes of mortality

6
Presentation of The Statistical Results Used
in The Data Analysis to Support a Health
Care Recommendation
 If no steps taken by the management to change the
positive slope of HAC infections graph, more deaths
will be experienced.
 Policy change must be implemented to lower the
patient readmission after discharge due to HAC.
 80% of errors represents nursing incompetency.
 Recommendations must therefore be implemented to
lower the errors.

7
Recommendations
 the management must change the nursing management policies
and practices to eliminate the challenges.
 This recommendation was justified by the prevalence of 80%
of errors in the nursing processes.
 Regular training of nurses was also recommended.
 This factor is supported by the existing statistical relationship
between nursing training and HAC infections prevalence

8
Conclusions
 From the data collected, HAC is common in the health
sector.
 The change of nursing policies to curb the challenge was
impacted by the statistical data presented
 It was noted that the issue of patient infections and
mortality are increasing.
 A relationship between nursing training and patient
mortality was found.
 Thus, training and managerial supervision were
recommended.
