1. Converting Fractions into Decimals

a) Divide the numerator by the denominator

using the process given in the previous
section.
b) If the quotient is a non-terminating decimal,
determine the group of one or more digits that
eventually repeat, and abbreviate the decimal
using vinculum.
Example:

1 1 2 1 3 5
4 2 12
 0.25  0.50  0.416
2. Converting Decimals into Fraction
Example:

1 0.75
Write down the given
0.75 decimals then divide it by
 1
1
75
 Multiply both top and
100 bottom by 100

3
 Simplify

Example:

2 0.625
Write down the given
0.625 decimals then divide it by
 1

625 Multiply both top and
 bottom by 1000
1000

Example:

2.35 Remove 2 for while and write

3 down the given decimals then
0.35 divide it by 1

1
35 Multiply both top and bottom

100 by 1000
7 Simplify

20
7 Bring back the 2 to make it
2
20 mixed number
Example:

4 0.333
Write down the given decimals
0.333
 then divide it by 1
1

333 Multiply both top and bottom

 by 1000
1000

Simplify if necessary
3. Converting Decimals into Percentages
Example:

1 0.8 = 0.8 x 100% = 80%

2 1.2 = 1.2 × 100 % = 120 %

3 7.1 =  7.1 × 100 % = 710 %

4 3.73 =  3.73 × 100 % = 710 %

4. Converting Percentages into Decimals
Example:

27
3 27%   0.27

2 .8 7
4 2 .8 7 %   0.0287

1 23%   0.23  0.23  23
100 1 100
89 0.89 89
2 89%   0.89  

6. Converting Fraction to Percent
Example:
3
1  0.6  0.6  100%  6 0 %
5
7
2  0.7  0.7  100%  7 0 %
