Introduction :
Iibraries are considered as a treasure of knowledge and also known as
storehouse of the knowledge. It is true that all the libraries in the world are full of reading materials
which consists of books, journal , Images , newspaper, and electronic audio visual materials. To
update and preservation of this knowledge is considered as a hard and difficult task of all the
libraries in the world.
◦ In this digital World, libraries are facing a variety of many problems such as
the application of New information technology and changing demand of research teaching. To
attracts their users they should generate non user’s awareness and raise awareness available
services and resources. Libraries must need to find new ways or methods to
promote library services and make policies to meet the user needs and also satisfied the users with
best library services through their librarians behavior and better interaction with readers ,
◦ in this way we need to promote our library Services in order to overcome the user’s required
information and gave them easy and clear and exact data in order to fulfill user’s problem and Gave
them to the point answer.
In order to improve library services they need following steps followed by library staff and professional :

◦ Best infrastructual practices followed by libraries :


◦ Creation of digital resources.
◦ Student internship programe in which they should be give an opportunity to work in the library
◦ Library resources should be available 24/7 for the users to meet their requirements and library
staff gave them completel information what they need.
◦ Internet access facility available with wI fi Connectivity to all the students and user in the
campus .
In library, better arrangements in order to create a good relationship with their users , librarians
must provide all the required information to Their users in time and provide complete guidance
in the research work of their users.
What library do for marketing of library
services :
◦ Library should organize the talks of experts In seminar and cultural programe to attracts and develop an
intreset in their users .
◦ Library make a mechanism in order to create awareness among the users about library available
services and resources .
◦ Library staff should be fully experience and expert in their work to provide exact and required
information to the user’s in the time .
◦ They also provide specialized services to special group of users like blind user, senior citizen, different
foreign officials.
Which ways and means of promotion of
library services and products :
◦ They need to establish good public relations with the user community .
◦ To develop the products like creation of data base, catalogue etc .
◦ Library also provide carrier guidance and counseling Service to the users for their future planing.
◦ Library should improve their services and research products according to their users need and their
satisfaction.
◦ Also give a whole publicity among the users to about the library services and resources are available for
the user all the time when they need.
Professional skills required for
promotion of library services
◦ Library staff must have been technical knowledge such as use of internet and presentation skills.
◦ They should have knowledge about library resources.
◦ They also have quality of taking a right decision at right time Inorder to their users need in time.
◦ They also have ability to obtain feedback from users and make things better for gaining user fully
satisfaction.
◦ Perception of users need, knowledge of conducting users survey etc.
Need of library marketing of library
services :
◦ Library should create a awareness among the users to promote the use of available reading materials in
the library.
◦ Library also need to build a friendly environment with the users and answer the required information
From the user’s with smiling face and gave them easy and clear information in time.
◦ In the libraries are limited funds, so they need to generate funds for the sake of providing better facilities
to their users.
◦ They also need to improve the image of the library.
◦ Readers require correct and exact information for their research work and study so, library staff should
provide relevant and clear information in time.
Five laws of promotion of library

Books are for use :
◦ This law show that each and every book available in the library is for users use
only.
◦ If the books are kept in the lock and not providing books to users for their
required need so it is a dead investment of the organization.
◦ In this way, it is a skill that how librarian attract more users to read more books
free of cost .
◦ Library staff must provide relevant and accurate documents to their users in
order to save the time of the students.
Every reader his book :
◦ Reader of the library is the main factor in the library.
◦ librarians must need how to fulfill their user need and satisfied with the library services
◦ It is mostly true that library cannot satisfy each and every users according to their needs which they have requested.
◦ That’s why it is a great responsibility of the librarians to make effort to satisfy their user and also in
search of getting good relationship with their users in order to create a friendly environment.

Every book it’s readers :


◦ It is expressed that every book in the library which is perchase by the library is must be to get reader at every time
when he need information.
◦ Library staff should be conduct a survey or studies to obtain the need of their users.
◦ The important factor is the attitude of the staff .
◦ The library staff always fully sincere to solve the problem of the user’s and provide them the required information
with smiling face it create a good relationship between librarian and staff.
Save the time of the users :
◦ The main and important work of the library staff is to save the time of the users .
◦ The readers should not waste their time in search of information which they have requested for their
required work.
◦ It is important responsibility of the library staff to facilitate the user’s towards the relevant and proper
information which is fulfil the users need in time.
◦ Library staff should provide the basic knowledge about the library resources and gave them easy and
clear information which they are required in their research work .
6, Principle of promotion of library
services :
◦ Place :
◦ services are intangible ,
◦ materials in the library cannot be stored normally.
◦ Services like SDI are giving The selected users what they need required information from the library
services.
◦ All the users can be followed all the instructions and regulations of the library.
◦ It is important that library staff should provide the required information to the user and users also
cooperate with the library staff in order to create a friendly environment in the library.
Product :
◦ Academic libraries are giving a lot of services to their users through many ways .
◦ List of addition, they tell and communicate with the users about what new materials are added to the library.
◦ OPAC is easily accessible to all the users through the internet instantly and also ( current content services, SDI
services, web services) are the basically products of the library.
◦ The major and important thing is that how librarian have to promote and marketing their products among the users.
Price :
◦ Price is the important factor in the budget of the library of the institution.
◦ If there is no provision of budget, then the library could not be able to purchase reading materials and also not
providing qualitative services so it must require financial provision.
◦ The internet connectivity should be provide to all the users in the library free of cost in order to provide instant and
easily availability of information which they are required in time when they need in their research work.
◦ Promotion :
◦ In the promotion, it requires librarian to make a mechanism by which they should tells their users about the
available resources of the library and information centres.
◦ It is necessary that every new student are join with the library , they must be provide awareness programs .
◦ In the promotion tool, the library instructions are given to the users in the form of workshop, seminars,
and lectures etcetc.
◦ Audience feedback :
◦ The success of any programe is based on the feedback of the audience involved in the promotion and
marketing of library services provided by the library professionals.
◦ Their feedback will be help the library professional how they will improve the library services and library
system under their users requirements and feedback.
◦ Process :
◦ Process is related to the process management , it consist of process of planning, control, operation planning and also facilitate the users about
the available resources of the library and information services.

“ Conclusion “
librarians and the library staff are trying to find out the appropriate ways to respond to the
requirements of the students and faculty to fulfil their goals. Librarians are also building the image and value
of the library. The limited budget provision and advent of new Technology and it’s application in the library
Also opend new ways for marketing and promotion of the library resources ,product and services. Now a
day’s libraries also create a record for each event for accreditation. Therefore, academic library and public
library also need to paln their marketing and promoting the library services and resources on the regular
basis. The provision of services should meet the needs of the current events trends , respecting the changing
demand of more users. In the curriculum of the Master programe of the library and information science
discipline, separate paper for the marketing and promotion of the library services should be thoroughly
taught.
