Design Of Light Dimming
The objective of this project is to design a light dimming device using a microcontroller based
dimming techniques which dims a 60W light bulb.

The light bulb should indicate by dimming when the speed of the motor increases.

In this design we are using a principle of phase angle control.

Block Diagram
The below diagram shows how components are connected.
Zero crossing Circuit
The zero-crossing circuit detect a zero voltage in an AC voltage from the source and send a pulse
to the microcontroller.
Light Dimming driver Circuit
This circuit receives a pulse from a microcontroller in order to control the brightness.
Complete Circuit Diagram
This is the combination of the zero-crossing circuit and the light dimming circuit.
Results From Simulation
The result below on the oscilloscope shows a sinewave and how the zero-crossing circuit react
when the voltage reaches zero volts.
Sample of results
In the demonstration I used 3 different dimming levels, level= 0, 5 and 100.

The results are as follow:

Results for level=0
The light bulb is too dark, which I can say it is off.
Results for level=5
The light bulb is still dark, but it shows that it is now switched on.
Results for level=100
The light bulb is too bright as the level of brightness is now 100.
conclusion
According to the results obtained, it shows that the aim was achieved.
