REASONS TO HAPPEN

• Low heat input.

• Weld pool is very large and runs ahead of the arc.

• Angle of the joint is too low.

• Incorrect electrode and torch angle

• Improper bead position.

REMEDIES

• Increasing the welding current

• Reducing the deposition rate

• Increasing the joint angle

• A very slight weaving motion can be used to help

REASONS TO HAPPEN

• Arc voltage is too high

• The wrong angle of electrode

• Fast travel speed of weld

• Large diameter of electrode

REMEDIES

• Reducing the arc length

• Keep the electrode angle from 30 to 45 degree

• The diameter of the electrode should be small.

• Reduce the travel speed of the electrode.

POROSITY
REASONS TO HAPPEN

• The electrode is not coated properly

• Using a longer arc

• Increased welding currents

• Contamination or oxide on the welding surface

REMEDIES

• Proper selection of the electrode.

• Decrease the welding current

• Using smaller arc

• Remove contamination or any oxide from the surface

before welding
