What Topic I Chose

I chose to base my productions on

social media and mental health.
This is relevant to the British Youth
because many people suffer from
mental health, and social media is
used a lot within this community.
 What have I learnt from this Unit?
I carried out primary and secondary research before I started to plan for my
productions. This made me understand the bigger picture of social media
and how it can affect someone’s life daily. I also watched some videos, for
both productions, to gain more knowledge of the topic.
 My Ideas
I created a video for my stop motion displaying a girl disguising her
emotions on social media to be relatable for some people as many British
Youth’s post happy pictures of themselves, however they aren’t really that
happy in real life.

For my Short Film, I based it on someone being on their phone constantly

whilst missing main events in their life to indicate that there is so many
more important things in the real world instead of on social media.

 How did I produce both productions?
Stop Motion
The hardest aspect of producing this was to be
patient with every small movement there was.
I enjoyed the editing part of this as I could see
it all coming together and it was making more
sense as I added in the voiceover.
Overall, I think I could have been more
careful and accurate with the movements in
this but other than that I am happy with the
final piece.
Short Film
The hardest part of this production
was planning it as I had to make a
few adjustments to fit the rules.
I enjoyed filming this because I
could choose how I wanted it to
look with the camera angles.
Overall, I am happy with how this
production turned out.
 Feedback
Stop Motion :
• The main feedback that I received for
my stop motion is to have more body
parts moving when walking to make it
look more realistic and to make sure it
doesn’t look like the character is sliding.
Short Film:
• From the feedback that I got, people
wanted to see more events happening
throughout the video, but they enjoyed
parts that I added such as the time-lapse.
 Moving Forward

What have I learnt? What do I need to improve? What am I good at?

I have learnt how to batch-
process images for a stop
motion and different camera
techniques to use whilst
making my short film.
I need to improve on using I am good at editing videos
different camera angles to and choosing the correct genre
make it feel more emotional. of music to go well with my
productions.
