Architectural Climatology

Architectural climatology (building climatology) is climate respective architecture

means “Design with Climate”. Architecture, as a profession is instrumental in huge
investments of money and resource. Architecture profession responsibility is great,
not only our client, but also for sustainable development.

Because there is no longer be disputed that the resources of this earth are finite
(countable) and the waste absorb is limited. If we want to survive, we can’t
continue our ruthless/no pity exploitation of the environment and we must act in
sustainable manner. In the profession of architecture why the study of building
climatology needs;

Building is a closed human made world/space in the nature with

use of different construction material materials. The birth of the
building by human in the god creation due to the followings;
History tells us many years ago, the open nature/world called as
Earth created by super power called as god by integration of different
elements like sun, rain, wind, humidity, snow, frost etc. He also
created/introduced other living creatures (human, animals, birds and
other creatures) in his creation. The god was given more importance
to the human in his creation as king/ruler. The god creation is
looking very beautiful.
But some of the elements in the nature like sun, rain, wind, snow and
frost creating un-comfortable living conditions according to various
seasons and also some of the wild creatures in the god creation are
started to hunt the humans. So the human was stared to run-away from
the dangerous natural elements and wild animals to safe place to
protect him-self.
He was running and running but he couldn’t find any safe place in
the open nature. Then he was creating his own world in the form of
closed space is called as shelter/building by using of different
ingredients called as construction materials to live safely and
comfortable as an ancient architect.
Then the man made world (building) was started creating un-
comfortable living conditions due to seasonal variations (called
climate change), selection of the poor constructional materials,
selection of the poor areas, due to poor architectural design etc. Due
to his wrong creation, he was suffering with un-comfortable
conditions given below;

The total un-comfortable living condition of the man-made

enclosure is climatologically divided in to heat loss and heat gain
base on the seasonal variation by different building elements. The
human was crushing by both heat gain and heat loss from ancient
time to till today.
We can see the amount of heat
loss from various building
components during the cold
season from inside to out-side.
The bio-climatic architecture
includes two parts such as
climate-n-climate design and
thermal comfort design inside
as well as outside to the man-
made world to the better
comfortable living to the
humans.
So a building must provide a satisfactory living environment for its
occupants by Bio-climatic Architecture.
