LEADERSHIP ASSESSMENT
B Y: C A I T B A L L
PART I: WHERE
YOU WANT TO BE
I.1. WHAT LEADERSHIP MEANS TO YOU
• Over the passed seven weeks, my life has
changed for the better. Mostly things have
come into focus. My family still remains the
drive behind my motivation inspires my
longing to see and create better in the world
(especially my niece/little sister). Seeing what
others cannot see in themselves is a talent I
hold close to my heart. Empowerment is
absolutely still priority number one for my
leadership style.
• Giving up is still not an option for me, as I
worked full time and was a full time student
during these last sessions. Pursuing concurrent
degrees and pushing myself to learn things
keeps me active, and keeps me on my toes,
while also challenging myself. Leadership
allows me to practice positivity when I feel I
will fail.
I.2. CORE VALUES
• Authenticity- Displaying transparency in values and beliefs, no matter the position of power.
• Integrity- Being strong in loyalty, standing up for what I believe to be morally correct.
• Wisdom- Understanding that things are bigger than me, and they start somewhere small, nurturing
that in each individual I meet/lead.
• Service- Serving selflessly and displaying commitment by being an example to the team I work
with.
• Humility- I stay aware of my own impact, and what I am capable of. Understanding that each
perception matters, even if it differs from my own.

• My core values relate to my still object, because they represent how I prioritize leading a team
professionally and personally. Displaying affections differently in each area of my life is important
to me because I realize that they bleed into one another, making me feel whole, and complete. I
could not be authentic in my leadership without being authentic in my own traits. Integrity is
imbedded in who I am, I can not turn that type of value off. Empowerment as well, I live to
encourage others, especially women, as I come from a family full of them.
I.3. FUTURE VISION

• Making one vision happen at a time. Using perseverance, love, positive psychology, and feeding my
soul will help me prioritize my mental health. Being self aware, and taking care of this body and
mind of mine will help align future goals and ready them for the taking. Having a family, loving
every small moment, and continuing to learn throughout life will keep me living.
PART II: WHERE
YOU ARE
II.1. SOCIOGRAM
• Shortcoming of my current work
revolve solely around time management.
I have found that making time for these
very influential people in my life are
different to grasp. While many people
have had a huge affect on my life,
currently, my family and my manager
are most supportive and prominent to
my future goals. They support me and
are helping me to pave a way to a more
stable life, where time management can
be a more realistic habit.
II.2. LEADERSHIP PRACTICES
INVENTORY ASSESSMENT
• My weaknesses are rooted in fear. Allowing myself to let fear drive prohibits me from stepping out of
my comfort zone. I realize that because of this, I lack feeling powerful in my line of work, and I also
recognize that it is a lot of my own self holding back from asking for opportunities. I am fearful of
failure, and fearful of my perspective not being heard. Strengths include communication, and making
something happen in the moment. I am wonderful at observing and analyzing the pros and cons of
decisions I am making. Other strengths include optimism, and seeing a larger picture and organizing the
vision.
II.3. LEARNING STYLE INVENTORY
ASSESSMENT
• My learning style is analyzing. My other strong style of learning was thinking. Neither of these
surprised me, as I do tend to need these while learning a new topic, system, or routine. I must
know the “why” of what I am doing, and I must see someone do it first, so that expectations
can be very clear.
• Weaknesses here tend to be my flexibility with change within the work place. I am great at
change in my personal life; however, in the work place I find it distracting, and something
redundant, therefore It is difficult for me to jump on board. (of course I keep that to myself) I
am a team player, and I like to know what’s being done and because of that, my strength is
being a high observer.
II.4. LIMITING ASSUMPTIONS
• Decision making is my biggest limiting
assumption. I believe that if I make the wrong
move, or wrong decisions or even if I miss one
small detail, it could cost me. I assume the best
in other people, but expect others to assume
the worst in me. Because of this, I am fearful
sometimes of making decisions, however still
display confidence about them when my team
is around. I do not doubt myself, but I see that
it causes me fear. Owning up to things we did
wrong is so important and also sets a great
morale for the store. I want my team to feel
like they do not need to perfect, but they do
need to be always willing to learn from their Miranda Priestly(Devil Wears Prada), displays confidence
own, and others mistakes. This builds a more everyday in her job, she effortlessly makes decisions and
confident and empowered team. without this fear of mine, I could be a little more like her.
II.5. WHAT MATTERS MOST TO YOU
• Three things that matter most to me are safety for those I love, security for those I love, and life
fulfilment for those I love. Professionally, I would say life fulfillment fills the gaps, as well as
security. Finding a job that you love, will earn you good standing in your line of work. My
mental health will stay healthier, and those around me will see me often. Family is at the top of
my list, all I want is for them to see me succeed, and for me to see them happy. Feeding our
souls and encouraging what we love in ourselves, and challenging what we do not love will
only make us stronger, more productive, and more successful.

This picture to the right, is of former president;

Barack Obama. He is wearing a shirt that says “The
American Dream.” He has been a staple for our
society and a family man on top of that. He is
passionate, secure, protects and loves his family. He
also provides resources to those who are in need. He
has been a wonderful role model, and only because he
believed in himself, and he believed in what he was
good at.
PART III: GETTING
FROM WHERE YOU
ARE TO WHERE YOU
WANT TO BE
III.1. COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT
STRATEGY
• 1. Prioritize mental and physical health: Practice yoga/meditation more often, I must prioritize
spending my money on therapy, and on gas so I can make sure my mental state is exercised and fully
functional. Without these things I will not make it in the world the way I prefer to. Keeping strong and
eating strong keeps my mind focused and keeps me on track.
• 2. Time management: Full time work and school is hard on my life. Setting aside a day or time to go
on a date, see a new movie, hang out with friends and see family for dinner. Make time to wash my
hair thoroughly, and play with the cats. Make time so I don’t distract yourself from every task. Make
time so I don’t feel rushed.
• 3. Stay Passionate: I must continue to make time for things that makes life fun. Taking life too
seriously can damper the exciting and small things in life that make it worth while. I believe we can
get so caught up in life, that we forget to live it. Booking the vacations when I can afford it, read the
book when I have time, stay up late, decorate the house for Christmas, and tell people how much you
love them. Be dorky, and “rip up your cool card.
III.2. COACHING RELATIONSHIP(S)

• Peer coaching was most helpful because it challenged something I was fearful of; the
unknown. Being that fear drives for me, I did not want to reach out and meet someone new
over virtual communication. I now am happy I challenged this. My peer coaches and I shared
vital perspectives into each others lives and challenged one another with feedback and grace.
Hearing stories and comparing assessments made me feel I was not alone. This only solidified
confidence in me to try new things.
• Some ways I can continue coaching professionally is seek out way to challenge my own team
members. I will be seeking opportunities from my own manager whom I trust a great deal.
Looking for ways to reach out, rather than in, will help me grow as a leader and it will allow
me to grow more comfortable with being uncomfortable.
III.3. LEARNING STYLE AND
FLEXIBILITY
• Building relationships is difficult. Knowing that I have weaknesses and strengths help me to
place those around me and recognize them. Because I can recognize them, I can notice when I
use them, disregard them, and push them off to the side. I don’t want to do this, as I want to
exercise every thing I have learned through my assessments. Relationships will flourish
because of my ability to see myself more clearly. Leadership certainly requires failure to
succeed and if I am willing to take chances on myself, and my relationships, I will go further
than I anticipate.
• My learning style will help me stay observant, and stay analytical so that I may ask the right
questions and prolong my learning experience, therefore, extending my passion for learning.
III.4. ACTION PLAN
• 1. Get a yoga membership: I will do this by separating time when I am home to work out each day or
stretch. Until I can afford a membership, I will set apart time to listen to classical music and calm my
mind. Meditation will help at this time.
• 2. Plan for social activity every week: Each week I will plan a date with my boyfriend, parents, or
friends. A movie, a lunch date, meeting for shopping, reading, or coffee date. I need to reach out more,
so doing this consistently will help make it a habit.
• 3. Keep a calendar: This is huge for all things listed. I will not be able to keep track of my progress
without one. I must know my schedule so I can time manage more efficiently. I keep one in my
kitchen which I will regularly update, as well as on my phone for quick changes and updates.
• 4. Keep a budget log: Budgeting for gas, therapy, and gym membership, because these things will
keep my healthiest, and keep me from swaying from my timeline. If I want to get better, I must
practice.
• 5. Attend Therapy bi-weekly: Doing this is vital to mental growth. A growth mindset is important for
leadership, but in my own life, I need to value it for my own sanity. With the stress of work and life, I
must process it in a healthy way. Budgeting toward therapy will allow me to stay in the correct mind
set, no spiraling here!

PART IV: OVERALL
CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION
• Learning from this course would include a lot of self awareness. Not only was I able to apply
this to my work ethics, I was able to apply it to my personal life. Knowing what I want to be,
how I want to get there, and achieving the five objectives (Model the way, Inspire a shared
vision, Challenge the process, Enable others to act, Encourage the heart) has done more for me
than I thought. While it was a challenge, each topic make a sound impact on my life. The
assessments helped me see myself clearly, which made me understand what I wanted to
change. All in all, each week we learned something different, and because of this, it felt diverse
and challenging, but also very empowering. All five objectives spoken about were integrated
into my world in a way I will not forget.
