Henry Ford

 Henry Ford (July 30, 1863 – April 7, 1947) was an American industrialist ,
founder of the Ford Motor Company. By creating the first automobile that
middle-class Americans could afford, he converted the automobile from an
expensive curiosity into an accessible conveyance that profoundly impacted
the landscape of the 20th century.

 His introduction of the Model T automobile revolutionized transportation and


American industry. As the Ford Motor Company owner, he became one of the
richest and best-known people in the world.
Introduction

 Ford Motor Company is an American automotive corporation founded


in 1903 by Henry Ford.

 The company manufactures passenger cars , trucks, and tractors as


well as automotive parts and accessories. Headquarters are in 
Dearborn, Michigan.

 Henry Ford built his first experimental car in a workshop behind his


home in Detroit in 1896.

 After formation of the Ford Motor Company, the first Ford car was
assembled at the Mack Avenue plant in July 1903.

 1908, the highly successful Model T was introduced.

 The company’s first international sales branch opened in Paris in


1908.

 Ford had more than 20 overseas assembly plants in Europe, Latin


America, Canada, Asia, South Africa, and Australia.

 Ford India Private Limited began production in 1926 as a subsidiary of
the Ford Motor Company of Canada, but was shut down in 1954 as the
company was in loss. 

 Ford re-entered the market in October 1995 as Mahindra Ford India


Limited (MFIL), a 50-50 joint venture with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited.

 Ever since Ford came back to India in 1995, it has made a total investment of
over $2 billion in the company and today it ranks 6th amongst the largest
carmakers of the country, after Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra and
Chevrolet.

 Ford has recently shifted focus on providing high-satisfaction customer-
service, particularly in terms of after-sales offerings.
 Currently, Ford has 376 sales and service outlets in 209 cities across India.
 Ford invested billions of US dollars to setup manufacturing facilities and a
network of sales and service centres for new and existing customers across
the country.
 These facilities not only produce engines and vehicles for the domestic
market, but for various export markets as well.
 Ford's facilities in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Sanand, Gujarat have a combined
manufacturing capacity of 6.1 lakh engines and 4.4 lakh vehicles.
 Ford models like the current Figo, new Aspire and the EcoSport are exported
from India to over 40 global markets.
