action of the heart
which gives pressure
that pushes blood
through blood vessels

PROCEDURE

1. Open or roll up your sleeves.


2. Attach the tensimeter cuff to the upper arm and the
valve pipe is on the outside of the arm.
3. The cuff is mounted not too strong or too loose.
4. The brachial artery pulse is palpated and the
stethoscope is placed in the area.
5. Screw the rubber ballon closed or lock the mercury
and then the ballon is pumped untill the arterial pulse
is not palpated and the mercury rises.
6. Then screw the balloon open slowly so that the
mercury drops slowly, listen using a stethoscope, the
first beat and watch for the drop in mercury.

7. Mercury surface scale at audible time,


the first pulse is called systolic pressure
(For Example 120 mmHg).
8. Listen continously until the last beat is
called diastole pressure (For Example 80
mmHg).
9. Then finally record the measurement
results.
