I. Raking shore.
• When walls of building,
develops signs of bulging
outward due to bad
workmanship.

• Or wall cracks due to


foundation settlement

Raking Shore:
-Given to external wall.
-To prevent further
development of defects.

Consists of
1.Wall plate (200x75)
2.Needles ( 150x100x400)

3. Rakers (250 x250) are notched to
fit the under
side of needle
4. Cleats( 100x100x200)

5. Braces (225x38)

6. Sole plate (250x 100)

7. Blocks (cleat)

Few points should to be considered while erecting
Raking shore:

First –fixed bottom raker.


- 45 degree to ground
level.
-then fixed second and
third raker.

-Center line of the Raker


should intersect with
center line of wall bearing
or underside of wall plate
bearing.

Top Raker :
•Not more than 75
degree.

•Angle between top shore


and ground level - 60
degree to 75 degree with
Gr. Lvl.

Angle between top shore


sole plate - 87degree to
89 degree

for vertical adjustment.

Flying shore ( horizontal Shore)
To give support to an adjacent
structure during demolition works.

Given to parallel wall which have


become an unsafe due to removal or
collapse of intermediate building.

Types-
i.Single flying shore .

Few precautions :

1.Center line of flying


shore and strut and
those of wall should
meet at the center
line of floor level.

2. If fl. Lvl are different- shore is


placed between two fl. Lvl. Or the level
of weaker floor.

3. Strut 45 degree.
Not more than 60 degree.
4. Spacing – 3m to 4.5m c/c

Advantages:

Ground support
is not
Required.

Remain in
position till the
new unit is
constructed.

Dead Shore ( Vertical Shore)

Provided if -
Defective wall are to be dismantled and
rebuilt.

Openings are to made or enlarged in the


wall.

Required to support the weight of


above structure and transfer the load
on the firm soil below.

Few precautions:
Before
commencement of
demolishing work -

Openings- strutted.
vert. post- provided
internally, @1.2m c/c.
-floor load transfer
Then
Holes- cut into the wall.
Insert – needle
Needle- rest on dead
shore.

Dead shore- rest
on sole plate.
Provided both sides
of the wall.
-Load transfer to
the firm soil below
through sole plate.
