Text To Speech (TTS) Technologies
• TTS is computer software that takes text on a
computer, tablet, or phone and delivers the text in
speech format.
• Helps readers focus on meaning of words being read.
• Helps students get motivated and become
independent readers.
• Dyslexic students are one group of students who can
benefit.
Speech To Text (STT) Technologies
• STT uses speech recognition software that takes a
student's vocal inputs and displays them as text
using word processing software.
• Helps students with poor handwriting skills
complete long written assignments.
• Helps students who think faster than they can write.
• Greatly benefits students with limited motor skills
and motor disabilities. It allows these students have
a better integration among their fellow classmates

text to speech. ReadSpeaker is ‘Pioneering Voice
Technology”.
• Free Structure- ReadSpeaker is a deal-by-deal software
license agreement that has usage in Education.
 • Intended purpose- "Here at Kami, we come to work every
day with a mission to help our users transition to paperless
Kami work. Our 23 million users include educators and students
who were previously weighed down by the time, effort, and
cost associated with paper documentation. With Kami, they
can achieve more than ever before with interactive
classroom learning”.
• Free Structure- Kami is a free to use software that only
requires a free signup. Kami can also be purchased
allowing students to unlock more tools that greatly enhance
user experience.
• During the current Pandemic, Distance learning has
become a necessity for all schools. Kami could be one
option schools can look towards that can help ease the
transition. It can allow students have a more traditional
classroom experience.
 • Intended Purpose- “Our goal is to provide an online
community for sharing instructional videos. We seek to fill
TeacherTube a need for a more educationally focused, safe venue for
teachers, schools, and home learners. It is a site to provide
anytime, anywhere professional development with teachers
teaching teachers. As well, it is a site where teachers can
post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a
concept or skill”.
• Free Structure- According to the owners, “The service is
free for everyone”.
• Teacher tube is a great way for students to learn quick and
fun information. Visual learners of all grades can greatly
benefit from this website. Since TeacherTube provides a
wide range of videos to choose from, most if not all fields
of education are covered. From grade school songs, to
complex physics lectures, TeacherTube continues to grow
along with its teacher and student community.
CamScanne • Intended Purpose- File management via multiple devices
r (including mobile phones, tablets and computers) and file
sharing via multiple channels (including email, Facebook,
Twitter and So on)
• Free Structure- Camscanner is free to use but is limited to
its resources. Users can upgrade to a premium account for
4.99 USD or a Business account for 6.99 USD.
• CamScanner is a great option for a paperless classroom of
all grades. As long as students have a mobile device and an
internet connection. Students can use this software to scan
assignments instructions which can be saved and then
worked on in a word document at home or on the go.
 • Intended Purpose- ViewPure started in 2010 as a way
ViewPure for regular people to watch YouTube videos without
the interruptions of in-line video ads and distractions
of the YouTube sidebar.
• Free Structure- ViewPure is a free browser software
with free optional signup membership.
• Although many websites such as YouTube have
strived to be a more kid friendly entertainment
website, there is no doubt that not all inappropriate or
unrelated content is filtered out. Once again this is
one program where all grade levels can benefit from.
From a teacher's perspective, ViewPure is a great
option to keep students focused and without the fear
of exposing them to unwanted content.
 • Intented Purpose- “to create memorable
GimKit learning experiences. To build a suite of
engaging, easy to use tools that help reshape
education for teachers and students”.
• Free Structure- Gimkit starts with a free 30-
day trial and then an optional 4.99 USD
monthly subscription.
• It is always great to see developers greatly
focused on making learning fun and
exciting. GimKit can be used with students
of all ages, although it can limit its use
based on age group.
 • Intended Purpose- “We are educators, parents,
siblings, and friends who aren’t satisfied with the
Newsela quality of the content our students are exposed to. We
know they deserve better, and are committed to
bringing authentic, engaging, diverse and accessible
content to all learners.”
• Free Structure- Newsela is a free to use websites that
offers a variety of content for students and teachers.
• Newsela offers educators a way to insert an activity
into their lesson with one click of a button. Newsela
tries to bring forward trusted sources to provide the
highest quality learning information to students across
all learning ages.
• Newsela can be used in a High School Government
classroom to provide students with thoughtful and
brain stimulating discussion about current events.
 • Intended Purpose- “Unify your filtering, classroom
management, and school mental health tools into a
Go Guardian single suite. GoGuardian’s suite of tools helps you
maximize the learning potential of your 1:1 school
technology program”.
• Free Structure- Kyle Stated that it costs about 15
USD per computer license.
• Go Guardian is another browser filtering software
with more robust student focused safety measures.
One of the key selling points of Go Guardian is the
ability to detect and possibly prevent violent or self
harm events by students. This is a great option to
use across all board, however, due to its cost,
underfunded schools may not have this as an
option in their classrooms.
 • Intended Purpose- According to the CEO and
Cofounder, “Prezi helps you organize your thoughts
Prezi and deliver them in a clearer way that really makes an
impact on your audience and helps them reach that ‘ah-
hah’ moment faster.”
• Free Structure- Prezi is a free to use presentation
software, however Prezi can be purchased to use its full
resources starting at 5 USD and up to 59 USD per
month for business professionals.
• Prezi offers limitless options for creative
communicators. It allows students who think creatively
to show their ideas with a user-friendly software that is
easy to pick up in a matter of minutes. Prezi has been
and is already being used by many students and
teachers alike across all grade levels. It continues to
grow and improve and has become an option aside
from PowerPoint and Google Slides.
