Dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers
When we do division of a large number, we can use our timetables to complete the sum.
What does this mean?

Example 1: 52 ÷ 3 *Clue : 3 × 12 = 36
Multiply Subtract
3 × 12 = 36 52 – 36 = 16
3 × 5 = 15 16 - 15 = 1 ( 1 left over)
12 + 5 = 17

Therefore, 52 ÷ 3 = 17 remainder 1
Dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers

Example 2: 68 ÷ 5 *Clue : 5 × 12 = 60
Multiply Subtract
5 × 12 = 60 68 – 60 = 8
5×1=5 8 - 5 = 3 ( 3 left over)
12 + 1 = 13

Therefore, 68 ÷ 5 = 13 remainder 3
Dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers

Example 3: 53 ÷ 4 *Clue : 4 × 12 = 48
Multiply Subtract
4 × 12 = 48 53 – 48 = 5
4×1=4 5 - 4 = 1 ( 1 left over)
12 + 1 = 13

Therefore, 53 ÷ 4 = 13 remainder 1
