Overview of the LRMDS

1 1
What is LRMDS?

The Learning Resources

Management and Development
System provides the mechanisms
to support coordinated and
integrated access to quality
resources by DEP ED Regions,
Divisions and Cluster/School
levels.
Overview of the LRMDS
2
What does LRMDS do?

LRMDS functions as a clearinghouse to:

 Provide information about the location of
resources (physical copies e.g., textbooks, training
manuals, lesson guides, CDs, charts, maps).
 Allows users of the system to access & download
directly digitized versions of resources that are
published and stored in multiple formats within
the LRMDS repository.

WHAT IS A SIM?
Strategic Intervention Materials
• An instructional material meant to re-teach the concept(s)
and skill(s)

• Materials given to learners to help them master a

competency-based skill which they were not able to develop
during the regular classroom teaching(with minimal
intervention/guide of teacher)
Five Parts of a SIM
1. GUIDE CARD
2. ACTIVITY CARD
3. ASSESSMENT CARD
4. ENRICHMENT CARD
5. REFERENCE CARD
GUIDE CARD
• The Guide Card presents the big picture
* It gives an overview of the lesson;
* presents the focus skills
* engages the learner’s interest; and
* leads the learner towards the performance of the
task(s).
ACTIVITY CARD
• The Activity card defines the task(s) that
the learner should undertake in order to
develop a skill.
• The task is competency-oriented and may
be an individual or group work.
• The purpose of the task(s) is to provide
enough practice for the learner so that he
can perform the skill automatically.
Embedding the Principles of Learning in the

ACTIVITY CARD

• Begin where the learners are.

• Adopt the activity to the leaners’

style.
ASSESSMENT CARD

• The Assessment Card helps the leaner

measure his/her level of mastery of the
skill upon completion of the task(s).

• The result of the assessment identifies the

knowledge/skill(s) that the learner may
need to enhance or develop further.
ENRICHMENT CARD

• The Enrichment Card extends learning by

providing additional exercises for further
application of knowledge or skill(intended
for past learners)

• It may also contain additional information

to extend knowledge.
REFERENCE CARD

• The Reference card provides

additional content to the coverage in
the textbook.

• It may also list the resources that the

learner may refer to for further
reading.

Why Document Sources
in APA Format?

 To give credit where credit is due: avoid

plagiarism
 To establish your credibility as a careful
scholar within the field
 To ensure consistency within the
discipline: readers know what to expect
 To give readers access to the sources you
cite

Sample In-Text Citation
Example 2:

One study found that teachers “discovered that

the need to tailor a portfolio was influenced by
how much personal risk could result were they
to bare their own perspectives” (Paulson &
Paulson, 1997, p. 289).

Key Checkpoints

• Ensure alignment of the activities with the

tasks/objectives;
• Keep the activities short and simple;
• Provide a variety of activities to cater to the
diverse learning styles
• Provide a number of activities(at least three
per task) so that the learner can have enough
practice in developing the skill.
