PHYSICAL THERAPY

 Physiotherapy is a branch of medical science that aims to


restore proper functioning of the disabled or injured body
part.
 It is also referred as Physiotherapy that involves
assessment evaluation ,diagnosing and treating a range
of diseases , disorders and disabilities using physical
means .
PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

 Physiotherapists are health care


professionals who treats injury or
dysfunction (that limits their
abilities to move with exercises
and perform functional activities
in their daily lives) and other
physical treatments of the
disorder of the individuals or
sportspersons.
SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPY

 Sports Physiotherapy or Sports Physio is the


specialized branch of physiotherapy which deals with
injuries and issues related to sportspeople.
 Each sports physiotherapist usually has sport-specific
knowledge that addresses acute, chronic and overuse
injuries. Their services are generally available to
sportsmen and sportswomen of all ages engaged in
sports at any level of competition.
Why physiotherapy is used ?

 To promote physical activity and recovery


 For health promotions
 For injury prevention and rehabilitation.
 For safe and effective prescription.
 To correct inefficiency of specific muscles group and regain normal range of
joint without delay
 To encourage the patient to use the ability he has gained in the performance
of normal functional activities and accelerates his rehabilitations(holistic
PHYCO- SOCIAL approach).

 To restore the functions of individuals

 Type of sport, duration, intensity .


 Assessment and Treatment of acute and chronic
injuries .
 Stretching and muscle activation before training
and competitions.
 Prematch strapping/ treatments .
During Exercise (injury)

 Should remain on movement analysts to prevent further


injury.
 Medical screening and injury prevention during practice.
 Liaising with management regarding the severity of
injuries and the conditioning of the team.
 Referral for scans / surgery if required .

and performance enhancement.
