"Amintiri din copilărie" is the major
work of Romanian writer Ion Creangă. It
contains some of the most characteristic
examples of first-person narrative of
Romanian literature, being considered by
critics Creangă's masterpiece.
This book is an autobiography.
Ion Creanga
Ion Creanga was a Romanian writer. Recognized due to the mastery of fairy tales, stories
and tales, Ion Creangă is considered to be one of the classics of Romanian literature,
especially due to his autobiographical work Memories from childhood.
Creanga's humor is the very humor of life, of this organic phenomenon, in which pain
and joy, evil and good, stupidity and intelligence, shadow and light embrace alternately, to
express it in all reality.
Childhood memories – first chapter
The chapter was written in 1880 and presents some of the author's childhood
memories.
At the beginning, the school where the children from the village go to study is
presented and then some of the adventures that he experiences when he goes to Brosteni
to continue his studies
Ion Creanga mentions the way in which children from the village were punished
and some of the mischiefs he caused, such as the moment when he destroys Irinuca's
house or when he falls ill with scabies.  
 Chapter 1 evokes the beauties of Humuleşti village over the water of the
Neamţ river; a large and cheerful village, divided into three parts which also
belong to one: Vatra Satului, Delenii and Bejenii. "; and the pride of belonging
to the birth of this old village, I say: "And then Humulesti and at that time it
was not only a village of unsettled and homeless people, but an old freeholder
village, with strong and ancient foundations; with mighty lads and proud girls,
who knew how to join the dance but also swirl the shuttle, so that the weaver
weeds rumbled in all parts of the village, with the beautiful church and some
priests and teachers and people like that who honored their village ".
 However this school remained empty with
the departure of the singer, who enrolled. The
priest wanted another singer as soon as
possible, however replacing his previous
singer proved to be a hard task, with the only
person available being too old. The singer
had the duty to teach children among many
other so without a capable singer, school time
would be over.
 The first part of „Amintiri din copilărie” is
one of the best of the whole book.
Named „Un bulgăre de humă” it’s the
part that impressed all the Romanian
critics, and even some foreign ones.

One of the greatest critic in our country said

about Creanga „The way he uses words to tell
stories is as beautiful as the way a painter signs
on a painting.” Of course, he is the most famous
story-writer in our country.

The book herself is good, but this part ,in my opinion, is the best. The writing style absorbs you
instantly into the story, a story that, with some imagination, creates the best feeling in the world.
