Advantages
● The company would become more inclusive

● Workers would feel more comfortable and safe

● Can attract more customers

● Parents or caretakers that have children with the opposite gender would be able to use the

same bathroom

● Gender neutral bathrooms are not only for trans individuals, but they are for everyone.

● People can assist those of the opposite gender that may have a disability or need

assistance
Steps to Accomplish
1. Present the current proposal
2. Designate area of where the
restroom is to be placed in the
store
3. Adjust blueprints to coincide with
designated space and construct
new restroom facility
4. Approve new restroom signs that
are gender neutral
5. Make public aware of the new
restroom facility

● Cost to install toilets: $250-$460 per toilet
● Cost to install sinks: $300-$500 per sink
● Cost to install stalls: $990-$2650 per unit
● Plumbing/electrical: $1000 for plumbing/$1000 for electrical
● Backsplash: ~$50
Time Frame:
● Up to 3 months

Risk for Non-Agreement

● Will lose customers by not having a bathroom where they feel comfortable

● People will start to feel discriminated against

● People will feel like they are not accepted by the community

● People might not feel safe or supported by this company


Question/Answers for a Marshalls Manager

● Does your store have a gender neutral bathroom? Why or Why not?
■ No, we just have a family bathroom. Having a family bathroom is just easier to have.

● Do you have the space to add a gender neutral bathroom?


■ No because the area where our bathrooms are is very small.

● Does your store plan on investing in a gender neutral bathroom?


■ Having a gender neutral bathroom would be a good idea, however we just do not have the space

nor the time to remodel.
