VIRTUE – ARISTOTLE’S
THEORY
A virtue is a state of character by which you “
stand well” in relation to your desires, emotions
and choices:
“to feel (desire and emotions) at the right times,
with reference to the right objects towards the right
people, with the right motive, and the right way”
Virtues are traits that are necessary for “living well”

VIRTUES OF WORK -
PATIENCE
o Patience is a virtue that can be learned, cultivated and honed. While it is often confused with the
ability to tolerate slack, patience is quite the contrary. It is a discipline that most high-potential
employees possess. It enables an individual to ask well-developed questions, find sustainable
solutions and address the concerns of colleagues. Patience develops in us a resilience to resolve
any situation, no matter how layered it is. It is a virtue that most investigative, analytical and
persistent people possess. Patient individuals are often active listeners and quiet go-getters. As
the epicenter of any high performing team, patient individuals are critical to success.
HOW TO BE PATIENT IN THE
WORKPLACE – TIPS
Enough sleep
Getting enough sleep at night affects your degree of patience during the day. Six to
eight hours at night are the average.
Eat breakfast
Don’t skip breakfast. Eating a light meal before going to work will make you feel
happier, more energetic, and able to think more clearly. This will save you a lot of
nervousness and impatience.
Studies have shown that eating breakfast can improve memory and concentration
levels, and it can also make us happier, improve our mood and lower stress levels.
This of course, helps to maintain patience.
HOW TO BE PATIENT IN THE
WORKPLACE – TIPS
Think about the importance of maintaining patience
For a few moments before leaving home to go to work, think about the
importance of being patient in the workplace, and how this can affect your
day. Tell yourself over and again that you are going to strive to remember
to practice patience during your workday.
Be Nice to your colleagues
Greet the people you meet at your workplace, even if you don’t like them.
Try to be helpful and kind. This will affect the way they treat you, and
therefore, there will be fewer reasons for getting impatient.
HOW TO BE PATIENT IN THE
WORKPLACE – TIPS
Change your reactions and attitude
Realize that you cannot change people, but you can change your reaction and
attitude toward them.
You can learn to choose how you react. You can wait a little while before reacting.
You won’t be able to change your reaction the first time you try, but if you strive
over and again, sooner or later, you will have more control over your reactions.
Drink Water
Every time you feel you are losing patience, drink a few sips of water. This will
tend to calm you down.
VIRTUES OR WORK-
PERSEVERANCE

Perseverance is the persistence in working on your goal despite facing

many obstacles. It can also be defined as the act of working towards
your dreams/goals despite delayed success. If you can persevere, you
can achieve anything. Therefore, it is necessary for you also to embrace
perseverance, if you want to reach massive levels of success.
One thing to remember is that many

VIRTUES OR people who have succeeded have

endured hardships, challenges and
failures at some point in their life.

VIRTUES OR WORK-
CONSTANCY

the quality of being unchanging or unwavering, as in purpose, love,

or loyalty; firmness of mind; faithfulness.
VIRTUES OR WORK-
CONSTANCY
5 Reasons Why Consistency Is Important To Your Employees
1. Provides a sense of organization
Companies that are consistent in leadership are better organized than those with cultures of constant change. In this regard,
consistency helps employees navigate through their day-to-day responsibilities. When problems arise, they're confident that not
only will there be a solution, but a method to go about finding it.
2. Builds trust
Employees are often a direct reflection of an organization's leadership. If executives and managers are constantly flip-flopping in
how the workplace is managed, employees can loose trust in leadership. You must follow through on the things you say you'll do
every time. Leadership must be trusted...you must do the things you say you're going to do, all of the time.
3. Increases productivity
Environments that are constantly changing are difficult to work in. Employees end up spending more time trying to figure out how
to work through issues rather than plowing through them with a pre-defined set of steps to tackle the task at hand.
4. Predictability
An inconsistent workplace is a breeding ground for confusion, which causes stress and uncertainty. Employees need to be able to
predict, at least to some degree, how leaders or will respond to situations.
5. Establishes accountability
Employees should be held accountable for their work. Likewise, leadership should be held accountable for the guidance
employees need while working through a project. A consistent follow-up strategy can help propel the project forward.
