Definition
Language error analysis (error analysis) is a study of the types and

causes of language errors, especially in the acquisition of a second

language. This field was pioneered by Pit Corder in the 1960s as an

alternative to contrastive analysis in second language acquisition.

Error analysis serves as a source of information and helps teachers

in. correcting errors to increase the effectiveness of learning with the

main aims of error analysis is to help teachers assess more accurate

what remedial work would be necessary for English as a Second

Language (ESL) students preparing for an English Language test, so

as to help these students avoid the most common errors.


RELEVANCE OF ERROR ANALYSIS IN LANGUAGE TEACHING
Errors in foreign language teaching, particularly in English, are cases that
are difficult to avoid. There are numerous factors that can cause English as
a foreign language learners to make mistakes. Interference,
overgeneralization, transitional competence markers, communication and
assimilation strategies, and teacher-induced errors are some of these
aspects. As English as a foreign language teachers, we must improve our
teaching methods in order to reduce the errors that students consistently
make. Furthermore, while errors are undesirable in the process of learning
English as a foreign language, error analysis is beneficial to both students
and teachers. Error analysis is required for learners to show them which
aspects of grammar are difficult for them, whereas it is required for
teachers to evaluate.

The cause is the difference between the students' mother tongue systems this case
Indonesian and English.
Purposes :
1. To help students in learning English, especially writing.
2. To Develop appropriate and effective teaching-learning strategies.
