• Focus MUST be on 5 Key areas


Safety awareness 5 key Focal points

We would like to welcome everyone back after the Holidays,


Please concentrate Safety awareness on the following 5 areas

• PTW Compliance

• Working At Height

• Excavations

• Rigging and Lifting

• Dropped Objects
Safety awareness 5 key Focal points

• PTW Compliance

• PTW is in valid and in date.


• Authorization in place

• Correct signatures – PICWS has inspected


work area prior to work commencing.

• Contains all associated documentation

• JHA, MS, TRIC, Gas Test, Relevant


Certificates if required
Safety awareness 5 key Focal points

• Working At Height

• Scaffold are inspected and green tagged

• Guard rails and toe boards in place

• Harnesses are inspected and serviceable

• Area below WAH is cordoned off and safe


Safety awareness 5 key Focal points

• Excavations

• Inspected to ensure in a safe condition.

• Have suitable access / egress.

• Treated as CSE if required.

• Correct Edge protection in place.

• Excavation Certificate, Drawings, GPR


and Hydrovac being used.

• Rigging and Lifting


• Lift plan in place and approved.

• Crane properly set up – outriggers etc.

• Cranes / Hiab's inspected.

• Equipment inspected – Fit for use.

• Cordon / Barriers in place.

• Tag lines used.

• Wind speed factors to be considered.

• Dropped Objects
• Scaffold Toe boards in place, Gaps on
scaffold platforms closed.

• Canvas bags used to lift fittings.

• Lanyards used on tools.

• Tie off equipment where possible.

• Area below work cordoned off.

Focus Topic:

• Line of Fire
• Ensure that no one is placing themselves in the
line of fire.
• Do not stand between loads being lifted and solid
structures.
• Never hold objects while someone else is
attempting to hit them with hammers i.e. Flogging
spanners – earth spikes being driven into the
ground.
• Never stand in whip back zones near lines under
tension.
• Always stay in the vision and line of sight of
drivers in Trucks / Forklifts / Cranes / Hiabs /
Scissors lifts etc.
