that provides residential, educational, and
cultural facilities for abandoned, street and
orphaned children.
Orphanage
An orphanage is a residential
institution, or group home,
devoted to the care of orphans
and other children who were
separated from their biological
families.
Objectives
: To create opportunities for the
children.
To create a positive loving
environment.

To strengthen the connection of the

children to the community.

To provide a stimulating environment for

training, education, and research supporting
skill development for the orphans.
Children who grew up in a family
environment with no love and attachment
in an unsafe environment would be under
emotional, ethical, social and mental
crises. Although the crises make same
children involved apparently; in deeper
concept and in nature, they make whole
society involved in it.
This study seeks to answer the
following questions:

1
What is the current status of the
children nowadays?

2
What are the necessary facilities and
amenities that should be considered
for the proposal?

3 What architectural design

approaches should be adopted to
design a sustainable, innovative, and
therapeutic orphanage?

What are the populations of child orphans?
Orphan children make up 2.33% of the
worlds population; a significant portion
representing 163,000,000 children that
make up that percentile.

GREENARCHITECTURE
A CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABILITY
Green Architecture, or green design, is an
approach to building that minimizes
harmful effects on human health and the
environment. The "green" architect or
designer attempts to safeguard air, water,
and earth by choosing eco-friendly building
materials and construction practices
(Roy,2008).

INNOVATIONS
Rain Collection
and Grey Water
Systems
Recycling and filtering water from
sinks, showers, and washing
machines can provide a typical
household with fifty to one
hundred (depending on the size of
the house and daily use) gallons of
water for outdoor irrigation systems
and toilet flushing, significantly
lowering water consumption.
Photovoltaic
Solar Panels
Photovoltaic solar panels absorb
sunlight as a source of energy to
generate direct current electricity.
A photovoltaic (PV) module is a
packaged, connected assembly of
photovoltaic solar cells available in
different voltages and wattages.
