Summary
Everyone can write a biography!
Even primary students can write one. Like what I had in my 6 th grader classes, I
ask them to write simple biography about their favorite idol. But of course, it
depends on where do we post the biography text itself. If it is formal and to be
published, it has to follow the right structure of the text.
How to teach kids to
write a biography?

7053 Ask them to choose one favorite person, then they

gather the information about the idol, then give
this blank graphic to write on the information.
• In my experience, it will be a little difficult for
the kids to write the sentences (especially for
kids who dislike writing and have narrow
background of English) but it is a good practice
for them at least to write something, not in a long
essay, but short ones. Even filling the simple
outline is an achievement for them!

• A good way to think about the main idea is that it

is one sentence that expresses the kid's opinion
of the person. It is what he/she wants everyone to
know or think about that person. For example,
our student might want everyone to know that
his grandfather was an honest, hard-working
person who, in spite of many hardships, made a
good life for himself and his family.
