Social Media - TikTok

What is TikTok?

 The app is used by young people as an outlet to express themselves through lip-
syncing, dancing, comedy videos, etc. Just like Youtube, TikTok is an interactive
app where people can connect with friends, comment on videos and follow other
people on the platform.
 Safety - TikTok can be safe for kids 13 years and older. TikTok is intended for
13+ users according to the app's community guidelines. The app can be safe for
teens with proper parental guidance.
What can parents do to keep their child safe using
TikTok?

 When signing up for TikTok, the account is public by default, meaning anyone
can see their videos, send direct messages, and use their location information.
 Parents should make sure to turn on all privacy settings for accounts kids are
using, so only people you know can interact with their videos or message them on
the app.
 That means either opting for a private account or changing the settings for
comments, duets, reactions, and messages to "Friends" instead of "Everyone."
 You can also turn those features off completely.
