INDONESIAN MUSIC
 The traditional music of Indonesian tribes uses percussion instruments.
 Some instruments developed decorative and unique musical instruments
such as string instruments, and the complex and cultured gamelan
orchestra.
 Gamelan – means “things struck together”.
 Gamelan ensembles consists of four groups:
 Melodic instruments
 Ornamentation instruments
 Colotomic instruments
 Variation instruments.
 An aerophone is a musical instrument that produces sound
primarily by causing a body of air to vibrate. Ex. Trumpet
 A chordophone is a musical instrument that makes sound
by way of a vibrating string or strings stretched between two
points. Ex. Violin
 An idiophone is any musical instrument that creates sound
primarily by the vibration of the instrument itself. Ex. Cymbals
 Membranophones are instruments that make sound from
the vibrations of stretched skins or membranes. Ex. Drums

Cambodia

 The traditional instrument music of Cambodia are used to accompany


dance. Theatre, wedding and other ceremonies.
 The Pinpeat Ensemble is an orchestral group of instrumens used to
accompany ceremonial music in the royal courts and temples.
 The music of Cambodia and the various music of native tribes have been
an important component in the Khmer culture, from court music to folk
music.
 The folk and tribal music of Cambodia has two important elements
 Sound of drones
 Effect of rhythmic patterns
